‘Tis the Season
Quick note: Please feel free to use this video with family and friends this Christmas, if you celebrate the season, that is.
Granted, Christmas means different things to different people. For some, it may be closely connected with their faith. For others, it may be closely connected with a quickly shrinking bank balance. Perhaps both!
I’m aware of just how stressful it can be as family and friends scramble to buy meaningful gifts for as many people as possible. For me, my wife and our 2 daughters (who know precious little about Christmas, and don’t really trust the Man in the Red Clothes), we’re still working out what Christmas will be in our home. What nice traditions can we carry over from our mixed heritage that includes Czech and German? What can we introduce that’s original? How far do we go in linking it to our Christian faith, given its mixed origins and message…
For us, the important thing is probably what most people who celebrate Christmas in some capacity believe: spend some extra-special quality time together as a family. Reflect on the past year, be thankful, dream about the future, and start taking steps towards those dreams. Oh, and food. Lots of food.
Wherever you happen to be – both geographically and in terms of belief – I would like to take the opportunity to wish you a very Merry Christmas, and a happy and prosperous year ahead.
See you after the wonderful chaos!
